Every bride wants to glow on her D-Day, and rightfully so! Skin health depends on what you eat and drink

The wedding planning process can take a toll on your hair, skin and overall health too. No amount of makeup can give you that inner glow, but small changes that you make in your diet can go a long way! Skin health begins from within; it all depends on what you eat and drink. Kajal Wattamwar  and Bushra Qureshi, dieticians and co-founders of Healthy Steady Go bring you very laid-back diet tips and secrets that will ensure your skin glows.

Radiant bridal glow - aloe vera juice
  1. Start Your Mornings With Aloe Vera Juice… … if it’s fresh, even better! Aloe vera is loaded with antioxidants, and is a great source of vitamin C – both very important to make your skin glow. Aloe is also known to be anti-aging, as it reduces oxidative stress in our body. And not just for drinking, aloe vera is even great as a moisturiser as it hydrates and fights acne.

  2. Munch on Healthy Fats Not all fats are bad. We see brides who are trying to lose weight avoiding even healthy fats. Fats not only help fill you up, but are also so important for overall health.  A simple trail mix goes a long way. Add nuts such as almonds, walnuts,  cashews, pistachios, even peanuts. They are loaded with healthy fats, which will help maintain that glow on your skin. Take this a step ahead and add seeds such as pumpkin, sunflower, flax, watermelon, black and white sesame seeds, chia, etc. These seeds are loaded with zinc and vitamin E with healthy fats.

  3. Eat The Rainbow Fruits and vegetables are loaded with powerful antioxidants that help protect and heal your skin from damage caused by free radicals. Fruits rich in vitamin C are great for reducing acne marks and boosting collagen. The fibre in fruits and veggies helps your digestive system and helps you poop every day! Research proves that adding more colours to your diet boosts immunity, improves skin, nail and hair health, and promotes a healthy gut microbiome.

  4. Seek Out Superfoods Foods such as amla and curry leaves will transform your skin and hair. Amla is loaded with vitamin C, and curry leaves are known to improve and boost hair growth. Simply add them to a vegetable juice and drink it as your midday meal. Recipe: Blend together a bunch of spinach, 4 to 5 curry leaves, 1 amla, 1 piece of ginger, 1 cucumber, a couple of mint leaves, a pinch of sea salt and water. Do not strain.

Radiant bridal glow - plenty of water
  1. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate We cannot stress on this enough, but pani ka kaam sirf pani hi karta hai! Hydration is literally the key to majorly flush toxins out of the body. Drinking a minimum of two to three litres of water a day is a must. Make it interesting by adding chia seeds or sabja to the water. Add lemon and mint for flavour. Chaas, coconut water and green tea also count.

  2. Get A Grip On Supplements Supplements of vitamin C can help you get your daily dose of this tissue-repairing vitamin. If you are non-vegetarian, animal collagen is great for anti- ageing and glowing skin. Fish oil with Omega-3 is a  good fat that not only improves skin appearance but also helps with the heart, brain and overall health. Biotin is one of the main ingredients you will find in a hair and skin supplement, which is most often lacking in our diet. Complementary minerals such as zinc, selenium and magnesium will take your skin glow a notch higher.
